Emergency Warning
If you experience chest pain, severe dizziness, fainting, difficulty breathing, heart palpitations, or any other symptoms that may indicate a medical emergency, stop all activity immediately and call 911 (or your local emergency number). Do not rely on this platform or any digital tool for medical emergencies.
PayToCommit is not equipped to provide emergency medical assistance. Your health and safety are always more important than any challenge, money commitment, or goal timeline.
PayToCommit LLC (“PayToCommit,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is NOT a medical program. PayToCommit is NOT a healthcare provider. PayToCommit does NOT provide medical advice, medical diagnosis, or medical treatment of any kind. Nothing on the PayToCommit platform — including the assessment, challenge parameters, weight-loss projections, BMI calculations, AI verification results, or any other content — should be construed as medical advice or as a substitute for professional medical consultation.
The PayToCommit platform is a financial accountability tool that uses money commitments as a behavioral motivator to support users in pursuing self-directed weight-loss goals. It does not replace, supplement, or substitute for professional medical guidance, supervision, or treatment. Please read this entire disclaimer carefully before using the Platform.
1. BMI Is a Screening Tool, Not a Diagnosis
The Platform uses Body Mass Index (BMI) as part of its assessment and challenge configuration process. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), BMI is a screening tool that provides an estimate of body fatness based on height and weight. It is not a diagnostic tool.
BMI does not directly measure body fat, does not account for muscle mass, bone density, age, sex-based differences in body composition, or ethnic and racial variations. A “healthy” or “unhealthy” BMI range as displayed on the Platform reflects CDC population-level guidelines and does not constitute a personal health assessment or medical evaluation. Only a qualified healthcare provider can determine whether your weight poses a health risk after considering your complete medical history, physical examination, and relevant diagnostic tests.
2. Challenge Timelines & Weight-Loss Rates
PayToCommit calculates estimated challenge timelines based on general weight-loss rate targets: approximately 2.5 pounds per week for female participants and approximately 2.9 pounds per week for male participants. These figures are the general planning targets PayToCommit uses to set challenge durations, and your actual pace may be faster or slower. They are not medical prescriptions, guarantees of outcomes, or personalized recommendations. Always confirm with your physician that your chosen challenge pace is appropriate for you.
Individual results will vary significantly. Your actual rate of weight loss depends on many factors including, but not limited to: genetics, basal metabolic rate, starting weight, body composition, physical activity level, dietary adherence, hormonal profile, sleep quality, stress, underlying medical conditions, and medications you may be taking. PayToCommit makes no representation that any specific user will achieve the estimated rate of weight loss or reach their goal weight within the projected timeline.
3. Consult Your Physician Before Participating
You should always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any weight-loss program, including any challenge on the PayToCommit platform. This is especially critical if any of the following apply to you:
- You have a cardiovascular condition, including but not limited to heart disease, hypertension, arrhythmia, or a history of stroke
- You have diabetes (Type 1 or Type 2) or pre-diabetes, or any condition affecting blood sugar regulation
- You have a current or past eating disorder, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, or disordered eating patterns
- You are pregnant or nursing
- You are taking medications that affect weight, appetite, metabolism, or fluid retention (including but not limited to corticosteroids, antidepressants, antipsychotics, beta-blockers, insulin, or GLP-1 receptor agonists)
- You have had bariatric surgery or any other surgical procedure affecting digestion, absorption, or metabolism
- You have kidney disease, liver disease, thyroid disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), or any other condition that affects weight or metabolism
- You are under the care of a physician for any chronic medical condition
This list is not exhaustive. If you are unsure whether a weight-loss challenge is appropriate for your health situation, ask your doctor before participating. Always stay properly hydrated and drink enough water throughout any weight-loss effort.
4. AI Verification Is Not a Medical Device
PayToCommit uses an AI-powered verification system to review your live weigh-in videos and scale readings submitted by participants. This system is designed to detect fraud and confirm that submissions meet challenge requirements. It is not a medical device, is not FDA-cleared or approved, and does not perform any health assessment, diagnosis, or medical analysis.
The AI verification system does not evaluate your health, does not determine whether your rate of weight loss is medically safe, and does not monitor for signs of disordered eating or other health concerns. It processes visual data solely for the purpose of verifying challenge compliance.
5. Safety Exclusions
To promote participant safety, PayToCommit enforces the following eligibility restrictions:
- Pregnant individuals are excluded from participation. Weight-loss programs may pose risks to maternal and fetal health and should only be undertaken under direct medical supervision.
- Individuals under 20 years of age are excluded from participation. Adolescent and young-adult bodies are still developing, and caloric restriction or weight-loss programs may interfere with normal growth and development.
These exclusions are safety measures, not medical evaluations. They do not replace the need for individual medical advice. Even if you meet the Platform’s eligibility criteria, you should still consult your physician before participating.
6. BMI Safety Limits
The Platform applies BMI-based safety limits when configuring challenge goal weights. These limits are aligned with the CDC’s healthy weight guidelines (generally a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 for adults) and are intended to prevent users from setting goal weights that fall outside recognized healthy ranges.
These BMI safety limits are NOT a substitute for medical evaluation. A BMI within the CDC’s “healthy” range does not guarantee that a particular weight is healthy for you personally. Conversely, a BMI outside that range does not necessarily indicate a health problem. Only your healthcare provider can determine what weight is appropriate for your individual circumstances.
7. Financial Accountability Is Not Medical Treatment
PayToCommit uses money commitments — money you commit at the start of a challenge — as an accountability tool. This mechanism is a motivational tool, not a medical intervention.
The presence of a money commitment should never cause you to pursue weight loss in a manner that is unsafe. If at any point during a challenge you experience adverse health effects, feel unwell, or your healthcare provider advises you to stop losing weight, you should prioritize your health over any money commitment. No amount of money is worth risking your health or safety.
8. No Doctor-Patient Relationship
Use of the PayToCommit platform does not create a doctor-patient relationship, therapist-client relationship, or any other professional healthcare relationship between you and PayToCommit LLC, its officers, employees, contractors, or affiliates. We are not licensed healthcare practitioners, and no communication from PayToCommit — whether through the Platform, email, or any other channel — constitutes medical advice.
9. Seek Professional Medical Advice
For personalized medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, contact your healthcare provider. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of information or features you encountered on the PayToCommit platform.
If you have questions about whether the PayToCommit platform is appropriate for you, discuss this with your physician before creating an account or committing a money commitment.
